AND GOLD TAPE MEASURE ELECTRIC CLOCK THIS ITEM HAS BEEN
SOLD This 1930's electric clock has quite an unusual shape. It is 4-1/2" tall, 5-1/4" diameter at the bottom, and stands on 3 brass ball feet. These clocks are usually referred to as tape measure clocks because of the similarity of the dial to a tape measure. The top part of the clock rotates around and the correct time shows at the pointer. The black enamel on the body is in exceptional condition, but there are two pinhead nicks on the top, and the ivory enamel has worn off the pointer tip. There is also some minor wear to the brass finish on the top ring, and two stress cracks in the bottom and middle rings. The starter knob is located on the back where the electric cord exits. The cord is still in very good condition, and we believe it to be the original. There is no indication of maker, however the bottom is inscribed with "MADE IN U.S.A. PAT. NO. D-95184 OTHER PATS. PEND 60 CYCLES 110 VOLTS. A.C." The design patent number dates to 1935. This clock keeps very good time, and is an excellent example of an unusual deco style clock. |
